U'8s - Match centre

West Bank ARLFC
Thatto Heath Crusaders
Sun 16 Jul 12:00 - Friendly Full time

A force to be reckoned with!

Today the incredible teamwork of the mighty Bears proved too much for the brave opposition. In the July sunshine, the Bears once again played two matches against the first rate Crusaders. As soon as both games kicked off it was clear we were in for a spectacle of a game.

Match 1 was a tough fought battle with the likes of Luke Barnett and top tackler of the game, Hayden Mcinerney making it difficult for the Crusaders to make any advance. The powerful Danyl O'Brien and Jack Egerton showed their worth as they ran fast and hard with the ball. An amazing try from Oliver Edge brought tears to the eyes of the spectators as he made it clear that the Bears were no pushover for Thatto. West Bank's silent but deadly Thomas Boyes came from nowhere and made an amazing whole body tackle, likewise it was Jacob Potter who put in some crunching tackles to secure the line.

In match 2 there was a similar story as dare devil Alfie Ryan made some 30 strapping tackles and gave a great off load to Thomas Stanton who secured one of his seven immense tries of the game - he never took his eyes off the ball and made a stupendous 40 tackles! More outstanding tackling was witnessed from the splendid Lucas Middleton who stopped several tries for sure. Myla Kelly was deserving of the opposition man of the match for his fast running up the field and coming back after injury time and again, shrugging off any suggestion that he should stop playing. Pressuring the opposition with his defence was the spectacular tackling machine, Lewis Lawrenson , he was instrumental in forcing the error of the Crusaders time sand again. The Bears gentle giant Harry Nuttall proved his worth with some powering runs up the mid field, never giving in to the defence, establishing this by putting the ball over the whitewash. The crowd also witnessed another first rate try from Shaun Arnold who side stepped his way through he defence to score one of his tree tries of the game.

Another win for the boys against a tough opposition, what a way to end the first half of the season!
